Studying in the UK as an international student requires covering healthcare costs in addition to tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses. To access the National Health Service (NHS), students must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) as part of their visa application.
The IHS grants access to NHS services during your stay, including doctor visits, emergency treatment, and hospital care. The fee is mandatory for both students and their dependents and must cover the full length of the visa.
For short courses lasting less than six months, students are not required to pay the IHS but will need private medical insurance to cover their stay.
